🔗 Share this article UN:Me: A Psychological Horror Merging Survival Horror with Among Us Gameplay The recent Day of the Devs digital showcase revealed several intriguing upcoming titles, but one especially has seized the imagination: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player experience seems to fuse together the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill game with the suspicion-driven heart of Among Us. "This is a distinctive game where a young woman containing several human souls inside her needs to flee from a labyrinth of the psyche," states developer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Fractured Consciousness In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed heroine seeming to be of high school age. Inside her reside four separate souls, all possessing their own anxieties and motivations. These souls can take over at will, unleashing their deep-seated terrors upon her without warning. Judging by showcased footage, much of the action unfolds within a creepy medical facility, though other scenes show the protagonist exploring a abandoned chapel. An Environment of Individual Dread "What makes you fearful of? What causes you uncomfortable?" poses game director Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Small rooms. Authority figures. Things that seem trivial to other people can trigger a deep instinct inside us. This game explores that concept — fears that are specific to each person." The core mechanic involves managing the persona that surfaces at a particular time. However, these identities will change involuntarily as you play. While exploring, each soul's anxieties become amplified and assault the girl in succession. When the soul changes, so does the specific fear the player experiences. Eerie Visuals and a Fatal Decision At first glance, UN:Me displays noticeable visual similarities with the Silent Hill series. The hospital is populated by orderlies all sporting the same face, with disturbingly broad grins. Patients in the lobby have enormous flowers growing from their heads should be. Floral motifs are an ever-present element, contrasting organic elegance with unnatural horror. Yet, UN:Me introduces a unique twist. Players are tasked with deducing which of the four souls inhabiting the protagonist is the "true" one. "Each of the souls asserts that the body is rightfully them," notes a developer. "Throughout the game, you need to figure out who is authentic." After a player have deduced a persona is an impostor, they are forced to destroy it. But, since each soul can deceive or hide the truth, it is incredibly simple to make a mistake. "Maybe you've already destroyed the real [soul] by your own actions," the narration states. "The final entity remaining might be a fraud. In any case, your choices are irreversible." UN:Me does not yet have a publicly announced launch window, but it is available to wishlist on platforms.
