Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the boxing community offered its support for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
