The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update. Social Media Response Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms. The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated. Size Classification Modifications Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Stories A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said. Service Background The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
