The Reds Will Not Alter Forward-Thinking Philosophy In the Face of Poor Run of Form, Declares Arne Slot

Arne Slot has announced that the Anfield decision-makers share his views regarding the team's slump and he refuses to compromise their offensive approach in pursuit of a turnaround. The manager acknowledged that six defeats in seven matches was below standard ahead of the weekend fixture with Villa.

Increasing Scrutiny During Tough Spell

Slot accepted the scrutiny was intense before his rotated squad exited the Carabao Cup against the London club. However, he insisted that this pressure to arrest the slide is not coming from the club's ownership or football administration following a substantial investment of almost £450m.

"We share common perspectives," remarked the manager, whose squad will encounter Los Blancos in the European competition and play against the Citizens in the domestic competition.

Player Depth Remains Unchallenged

Slot believes his team "have an unbelievable squad if they are completely available and all ready for the programme we are facing". He said that the recent signings in footballers like the German international and the forward, who is expected to be sidelined again against Aston Villa through injury, had left the club "in an excellent position for the immediate prospects and the distant prospects".

Gelling Difficulties

When pressed on why his team were taking so long to gel, he replied: "That's not particularly helpful. 'What's causing this?' I provide reasons and people say I'm offering alibis. I can come up with multiple factors why we are not winning as much or experiencing losses as we do but, as I consistently state, there are inadequate reasons to have a results sequence as we had now."

  • Regardless of whether I could come up with multiple factors
  • As Liverpool manager you cannot lose
  • Unfortunately six losses from seven matches

Backline Performance

Only Burnley (twenty-one) have allowed more significant openings from normal situations this season than Liverpool (19). The first-place team, the Gunners, have faced two. Yet the manager disputes the champions have been too open and maintains there is no reason to abandon offensive philosophy for a cautious system after 10 games without a shutout.

"In my view we're not conceding a lot of chances so I find no basis to change our playing style completely but we have to enhance in preventing goals," he declared.

Recent Examples

"When facing United, how many chances did we concede? Against Eintracht Frankfurt when we were leading 3-1, we hardly conceded a shot on target. In each fixture we have competed in we haven't allowed a many opportunities. Absolutely not. We do give away a bit more than last season but that has to do with us being behind early so you take a bit more risk. But typically I don't think that our issue is that we allow too many opportunities. Our challenge is we don't score the openings we produce."
