The Madrid giants winger Vinicius Jr has apologised to fans for his conduct when substituted in the recent fiery match against Barcelona win.

He was replaced in the 72nd minute and expressed his annoyance by walking immediately to the dressing room.

The Brazilian later returned to the dugout and, following his club's 2-1 win, attempted to approach Barça's Lamine Yamal during unsavoury after the game scenes.

"Now I want to apologise to all the supporters for my behavior when I was substituted in the Clasico," the player shared on X.

"In the same way as I have said in person during the latest practice, I also want to apologise again to my team-mates, the club, and the president.

"Sometimes fervor overcomes me because I always want to win and support my club. My competitive character stems from the passion I hold for this institution and everything it stands for."

Vinicius moved to the Spanish capital from his former club in 2018 for £38.7m and has notched triple figures in numerous matches.

But his career in the Spanish capital is unclear with reports in the past few months suggesting that Los Blancos would think about allowing the 25-year-old depart if they got a good proposal.

When he was substituted on the match day, broadcast footage from broadcaster the platform captured him stating: "It's always me! I'm departing the side! It's better if I leave, I'm leaving."
