One police sergeant that leaped to the assistance of a colleague that got attacked by a knife attacker was granted the Monarch's Honor for Valor.

Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he held a knife to the neck of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a traffic accident in the area in July 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.

"Policeman attacked," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his communication device.

Bodyworn and dashboard camera footage shared by the agency revealed Brown, that was clothed in black with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a weapon extended.

He ran into the policeman who lost balance and dropped to the ground, after which Sgt Ansell stepped in and struggled to restrain him to the pavement even though being continually attacked with the weapon.

PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a clear shot, bringing the fight to an end.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "I need help on my neck here, I got knifed in the neck."

Sergeant Ansell suffered multiple open wounds to his neck and additional cuts to his arms and body, while Sergeant Foster experienced slash wounds.

Officials reported Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to control his partner's bleeding before medical personnel reached the scene.

The latest award comes after the three officers were granted internal Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the area officer association in April 2024.

They additionally received a North West Valor Recognition in summer 2024.

"The efforts of each policeman ultimately saved one another and resulted in no bystanders endured any harm."

Brown was sentenced to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, per authorities.
