Bondi Announces Inquiry into President's Adversaries and Epstein Links

On Friday, Pam Bondi appointed Jay Clayton to lead an investigation into opponents of Donald Trump and their connections with Jeffrey Epstein. This decision came just after Trump instructed her to begin the investigation.

During an announcement, Bondi praised Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. The official stated, “As with all matters, the department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people.”

This action seems to diverge from a recent memorandum from justice department officials which stated that documents related to Epstein lacked grounds for further inquiries. According to the document, investigators “lacked sufficient evidence to pursue cases against other parties.”

The President Calls for Scrutiny of Political Opponents in the Epstein Matter

The announcement comes as growing pressure from Trump on lawmakers to oppose the public disclosure of Epstein-related documents before an key congressional decision in the coming days. Many Republicans are anticipated to support the release.

Recently released emails from Jeffrey Epstein have brought attention to Trump’s past involvement with the convicted criminal, including details that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.

That same day, the President declared he would ask the Department of Justice to investigate connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, specifically naming prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Paradoxically, Trump also described the “Epstein hoax” as a “scam”.
