Admittedly, it's Full of Gibberish, Over-the-Top Hospitality and Self-Help Jargon. But I Do Love Meghan's Christmas Special.

No matter the time of year, it's always hunting season for criticism on the Meghan Markle's televisual offering, With Love, Meghan. Commentators, both professional and armchair, have rarely been so united as when eagerly tearing the series' initial installments apart. The prevailing view seemed to be a more egregious regal scandal had seldom occurred than the notorious snack re-labeling incident.

Now, like a merry renegade master, she makes a comeback for another round with a "Christmas Special" (aka a holiday episode). Yet now, things have shifted. The standard components viewers are accustomed to – meaningless jargon salads, overzealous entertaining – persist, but set of a Christmas special, suddenly it all makes sense. The elements have slid into place; it's a flawless festive blizzard.

Now, Meghan resembles the oddball family member at most festive family gatherings – providing random tips, and contributing the periodic peculiar declaration. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's an interesting figure, but her company is customary and unexpectedly soothing. And she seems pleased; she's not doing a bit of damage.

She is aware her all subtle gestures, utterance and glance will be analyzed and judged, but still appears carefree and too blessed to be stressed.

Maybe this is the initial instance in history where that well-worn saying – "Don't listen, it's pure jealousy" – could actually be true. Since, you know what?, everything in Meghan's Holiday Celebration truly is charming. Admittedly, it's all awkwardly over-the-top, silliness and flamboyant – but isn't that precisely what Yuletide is all about? And the advice she gives might be laughable, but the example she sets genuinely looks impeccably styled.

Anything she turns her beautifully manicured, diamond-adorned hand to, she pulls off with flair. Her culinary efforts looks scrumptious, the wreath she makes is gorgeous, her gifts are nearly too beautiful to tear into. Not a single thing is average or aesthetically displeasing – even the way she secures her kitchen garment is stylish and elegant. She doesn't throw a meal in the microwave, it "takes a twirl", and she wraps gift paper like an craft master. She also seems to be genuinely relishing herself from start to finish. How could any hate-watcher not be charmed, filled with festive joy and left with a intense desire for personalized Christmas crackers or a vegetable display where broccoli is arranged in the shape of a festive circle?

Meghan used to pretend for a living, naturally, but nonetheless, after the intensity of scrutiny she has faced since she started dating Prince Harry, the love child of acting royalty would find it hard to appear this authentically. Her refusal to alter or even moderate her shtick, regardless of it being so relentlessly, widely parodied, is weirdly comforting. In our uncertain world, here is one thing we can rely on: Meghan will remain herself, whatever happens. We will always know what to expect with her.

If you're not yet convinced by her message, a point that will certainly come as a reassurance: you are not obligated to. We don't have national service in this country, and should it be reinstated, it would be unlikely to include watching With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, however, you choose to watch and are consumed by jealousy about her idyllic Christmas, there is hope either. Whether you're a duchess or a everyday person, no kid completely grasps the time and energy their mum expends in the holiday season. So you can find comfort by picturing the young royals' faces when they reveal a beautifully scripted letter that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a handcrafted holiday countdown, rather than a sweet treat.
